How to replace the brake band on a john Deere winch?

I think my band is broken. Any tips on taking it off thanks??

What machine is it on?  If it's a 3305 winch (440, 540) you have to remove the side cover off the left (drivers) side of the winch to access the brake. On my 540 there is a small hydraulic line that has to be removed before you can pull the cover off the housing.  Check the springs first.  I've had the springs that hold the brake snap, but never the band itself.  Loosen the jam nut, and the adjuster nut (takes the pre-load off the springs), then remove the pins that hold it to the master cylinder and housing and it should come out.  Be careful to not wreck the seals when you put it back together.  (Don't ask me how I know)
