The mill in Berlin went down that path. As far as I know most of the machinery was scrapped. The stack was saved and is now part of a new biomass generating plant. They buy chips and some round wood by contract, but the price is low. The plant has a few good jobs, but nowhere near as many as the mill.

$5.4 million is probably less than scrap value.

well maybe. except the last couple owners were just as big a crooks as this company was. the real great northern paper was quite a place. many years ago . they owned 2 million ac. hydro dams to power the mills. way back 2 farms. the piston farm and the grant farm. to raise hay for the horses and crops to feed the woods crews. the last owner was pretty much a shell game set up by an investment group. nobody knows who owned what. they sold alot of things prior to this. some think they had this planed from the start.
