How long to run Blades in a 9" Salem Gang before changing out the set

I think we are over running the circle blades in our Salem Gang Saw if we don't hit anything.

Idea I have is we start tearing the wood instead of cutting it and it promotes checking in the kilns.

Cutting Red Oak.

Can you describe more of the whole operation and the apparent problem.

What is happening before the wood goes to the gang saw?

Which surface is checking in kiln.. only the gang sawn surface?

Does the wood go directly from the gang saw to the kiln?

if it's not leaving a crisp cut then yes they should be changed. running dull blades causes more damage than just the cut itself. more load on the motors and bearings and the feed system also which will lead to premature failure.
