I guess it doesn't - it appears I didn't mention it.   :D ::)

I've got some 3" thick black cherry slabs around 28" to 30" wide and around 8' long that I fully expect to take 3 years or more to cure.  Painted the ends, stickered and covered and I'll just wait it out.  I'll use what that old 200 year old tree decides to let me use.  So far so good with the checking.  I know some just check within a week of milling but these are over a month.  I also realize they can do still anything but it's looking good so far compared to other stuff I've seen.

So here is my first attempt at the slab table thing. It is 2.5" thick and 24" wide. It is a bedside table in my house. I made a lot of mistakes but enjoyed the build. The drawer is operational and was supposed to match the live edge as I had them stacked in order. I think the one I wanted got sold by accident but I made due with another piece. It is River Birch that came to me in a load of firewood. Brian

so nothing antique about what I used. its basically a forstner bit and a tenon cutting bit. google lumberjack tools to see the version. I have a cheaper model but have been impresses with and had some fun using it. Learning as I go, Brian
