Had been down 7 years with deep cracks

  but we get some good wood

  the all most S I L was happy

  found a fence staple bought 10 inche's inside 

  Scott has them tied down
He got some nice 1/34 by 8' to make a bar. to bad the cracks were so deep was a lot of rot inside the log

saw logs all day what do you get lots of lumber and a day older

The way the pictures were loading for me, your comment about getting some pretty wood was right next to the pic of the staple. I got a little concerned because I thought that pretty had only yielded a few toothpicks!!   :)

Goose, see if you can get some pictures of the bar when it's done. Lots of old time millers say that the best walnut color wise comes from older logs. Not certain, but I think there's some truth to that.
