homelite 990g recoil problems

I have a very clean homelite 990g, that I have take the recoil mechanism apart, and  cleaned yet it still misses pulling the engine over about every fit pull, if your familiar with this type of recoil I need help, it uses the ball bearing, type, with 3 balls that drop to lock the mechanism, thanks for any help

   Howdy,
   It's been a long time since I had my hands on one of those. You're right about keeping them clean and dry. You could try a little graphite to see if it will help.
