The tree guy that I get a lot of wood from wanted a couple of benches to go around the fire pit at his house. He wanted them to be set in the ground, using a log for the legs. I told him they would eventually rot, he said that was ok, " we'll just make some more" he said???????
I used a 10" poplar for the legs, cedar for the  45 degree braces and a 2" thick white oak slab for the top.
He say's he will seal the top. We'll see how long they last.....

I like that! it would still most likely last several years.
It seems I am a coarse thread bolt in a world of fine threaded nuts!

Making a living with a manual mill can be done!

Very nice!  Too bad you could not find some yellow locust for the legs.

Yeah, the locust would really last a lot longer, seems to be almost extinct around here. The poplar was easy to get to, in the pile, when he sprung the benches on me.

Tell him to build his own bench. Looks like you have a nice work table now.  :)
The older I get I wish my body could Re-Gen.

I've got a couple of extra if you need some.

Manage 80 acre tree farm in central Missouri and Mesquite timber and about a gozillion saguaros in Arizona.
