I have an older Rancher where the chainbreak handle is attached to the cover. Somehow it was engaged with the cover off. How do I go about resetting it so I can get the cover back on?

Too funny, hubby and I were just talking about this yesterday. He did a whole re-enactment.

Here's the steps:
1. Lay the chainsaw on left side.
2. Take cover put it in place
3. Hold down firmly (REALLY FIRMLY)
4. Pull chain brake toward you (of course bar is pointing away)
5. The brake actuator should line up (You'll feel it click into place)
6. Put bar nuts on and test.

Wash rinse and repeat as necessary.
Gotta know when to fell em, know when to tell em, know when to walk away, know when to run....

Been there and done that myself. Was not fun. Didn't get a t-shirt.

Went out and experimented and found out I could do exactly what webgal described.  :)

Did you have to wash rinse and repeat?

Glad to hear it. Hubby and I are graphic computer type people by trade, but he spent a few years at a Husky/Stihl dealership here in Laytonville and learned a few tricks. Early on he'd call me for bar and chain match ups. What a team effort!
