This is one of the original non-modified MS361 Stihl's.  Are these things really worth as much as some folks believe??  I mean, they're great saws but what's a real market value today?

I paid a bit less than $400 for the used one I picked up between three and five years ago. My favorite firewood cutter. :)

I recently bought a used MS361 and XP562, PHO, for $950 for the pair. Don't know if that helps you any or not.

I've seen them advertised for all sorts of prices but like many saws, condition is the primary factor. I think one that looked new could fetch near $500 but most of them I see in the $350 to 450 range. Not sure of actual sale prices but that's what they're typically advertised for in these parts. I've heard lots of good about them and would probably have one by now but just won't put a flippy cap saw in my line up. Right now I think I have three flippy cap saws but they'll all be moving on eventually. The next saw I'm targeting is an 046.
Too many chainsaws, not enough wood.

My 361 is my favorite saw for stove wood, I have a 440 with a 25" bar that I will probable get rid of soon, more saw than I need, most trees I'm cutting are under 20"

You can't have mine for $300 that's for sure, I see $400-$500 as more typical for a good one. ;)

Someone might lift it off the truck and drop the price to $300. Then you'd be out. ;)

Throw it on the for sale section here if you don't want it. Might very well sell on here. If I had $350 to throw around at the moment I'd buy it to get ported just because I can't bring myself to mess with the one I have, too nice as it is to mess with, but I really want a ported one too...
