You are all invited to the first annual Axetravaganza Axe Meet. Aug. 2 & 3, 2014 at the Chaplin Creek Village Historic Site outside of Franklin Grove, IL, USA. (1715 Whitney Rd. Franklin Grove, IL)

Bring your axe collections, your forges, your families and enjoy the fellowship and the multitude of axes!!

We will have hewing, axe throwing, spoon and bowl carving, splitting, standing block chop, lots of rounds, logs, branches, and targets to play with...BYOA, axe collections, dealers, restorers, bladesmiths, sharpening demos, re-hafting demos, consignment table, bushcrafters, free over-night camping, and the list keeps on growing.

Demonstrators and exhibitors encouraged to attend.

Franklin Grove has an annual Summer Harvest Festival which is a city wide event. The local historical society has a living museum site (Mid-late 1800s) where they have relocated a number of buildings onto what is call Chaplin Creek Village...they host an open house during the festival and invite the public...it is their main fundraiser to help support this educational piece of history. They invite old world crafts-people to do demonstrations for the public, and I have volunteered to demonstrate each year for the past 7 years or so. This year to help them boost the number of visitors, the Franklin Grove historical society is co-sponsoring this Axetravaganza Axe Meet along with the members of the facebook group "Axe Junkies"

Since Chaplin Creek Village is host to the Summer Harvest Festival and the Axetravaganza Axe Meet, they will have concessions available to buy food, including some really good pies and ice cream! We are hoping to have a potluck/cookout at the end of both days, with campfire and such...so you may bring your own food for the potluck or help support the local Historical Society and buy their food.

Many of us will be camping (free) at the site for the weekend along with a Muzzle-loaders encampment. Vendors are welcome with a small daily sellers fee.

There is no fee to the event, but donations to the Historical Society are welcomed.

I know that this is the same weekend as the Forum Pig Roast, but this is a 2-day event, so hopefully some of you "Roasters" will swing on by Sunday on the way back home.  :)

We hope to see you, and all of your axes, at the Axetravaganza Axe Meet!!!

Peace, Rooster

Sounds like just my kind of thing. Too bad I'll have to be in town for jury duty.  ::)

That is the Pig Roast time.

I know...I think I might have mentioned that in the original posting...but it's also on Sunday the 3rd.
