Picked up a 272xp a while back.  could not get the old carb to run well.
Got a Bailey's replacement and I can get the saw to idle well
and have been working on the High end tune.

Trouble I have and I suspect it may be more than tuning is
it will not pull well in a cut with any kind of down pressure.

As I recall cold compression was 140-150 range (will recheck)

Air cleaner is good, new plug, fresh mix.

any thoughts or tune tips before I take it to an expert??

Thanks

Between 1 and 1 1/2 turns out from lightly seated is normal. Somewhere in there should give you the right tune if all is well with it.

I'm far from a chainsaw expert but, have you checked the chain? Could the rakers be a little short?

Chain sharp, really sharp?

Then I'd check fuel filter, fuel & pulse lines. Try it with a known-good plug.
