With all this nesting going on, I can see why the skidder wench is smiling. ;D

The skidder wench keeps saying you better not spend all your money on this barn and make me live in it forever. :D

always great to have a skidder Wench to help out on the projects.
Things are looking good.

Thanks for sharing.  Is there a sketch or print of the barn(before it goes up)?
Anything someone can design, I can sure figure out how to fix!
If I say it\\\\\\\'s going to take so long, multiply that by at least 3!

That is quite the shack! Very impressive barn. The work is just starting.

Great story thread! I look forward to the pics as the build progresses.
There are no problems; only solutions we haven't found yet.

I have been delinquent on updates, but since no one asked I will post some new pictures. ;D

Getting started on the girts and perlins.  After this I must say I hate cottonwood, unruly, and stinky.

And then the rains came, 4" in one day.

This pail was empty when the day started; my son was playing with it the day before.

Can't work, may as well drink.

One of the first 8x6's.

Taking a break to let the boy learn how to dirt bike for the first time.

Moving on to my friends property to saw the logs I could not move.

Looks like you've been busy the last month.
Got into some nice Ash logs too.

That rain hit fast and hard. I was busy the week following the Pig Roast and didn't get the camper put back together right away. I had the awning out and our road bikes were parked under it because I had something going on in the garage. When that rain hit, I had forgotten to drop a corner of the awning.  The weight of water buckled the roll up tube, the awning collapsed and knocked my Harley over. I got lucky with my bike. The gas tank couldn't have been a 1/2" from the camper steps. No damage to the bike at all.

We needed the rain though. The Skeeter's were just starting to thin out a bit lately.  :D

I've been pretty busy, you can stop by; I promise I'll put you to work ;D.  That rain came on in a hurry.  I had to put on a rain suit to take those pictures.  Glad your hog wasn't damaged.

Man you have some nice "stuff". Keep up the good work and the pic's coming. As mentioned earlier, if this is the barn, I can't wait to see the house. My sister built a barn for her horses, and all I could think of is how nice a house or cabin it would make.

Raider Bill

Did you make or buy the brackets?
The First 70 years of childhood is always the hardest.

thechknhwk

The joinery brackets were part of the architectural drawings and I had a friend cut them on his plasma table out of 3/16" sheets to the required sizes.  The brackets that mount the posts to the piers I had made at a local steel supplier.
