Hello, I have a sawyer that cuts my lumber. I have my own kiln to dry it. He cut about 1200 BF of oak back in December. It then got muddy and then cold. The lumber has stayed frozen until now. My question is if the lumber has mold on it, after drying will the mold plane out? Thanks for helping.

I would think so with oak.

Should plane out fine.  Wear a dustmask, at a minimum, if you have any allergies at all.

You can even use a stiff brush to remove mold.  Allergy sensitive people do need a decent mask and clean clothes and a shower...maybe brush it outside.

During the winter months is when I see mold develop on my red oak. Its the white fuzzy kinda mold and it only forms at the sides of the packs, rarely does it mold across the face of the board. The mold dies when the temps get over 110 or so.  And it planes right off and leaves no trace at all, even the heavier mold doesn't do any damage. Sometimes I take a shop broom and get the worst of it off before the planer guys have to handle it. Blowing it off with a big long air gun works nicely too.
