My ole skidder been getting warm on me. I replaced the water pump and thermostat at the end of summer help a little but not much. Well today the outside temp was about 55 and it started getting warm again. Its been fine all winter. Ive cleaned between the fins of the raditor but hasnt been much help. The fan has got in the fins and bent some. Can a good raditor shop repair the fins and maybe recore the radiator or would i be better off try to find a good at the skidder junkyard?
Thanks in advance.

Sure it's flowing well?  We put dish washer machine soap in it and run it for a day then flush it out. Works good.

Okay.  I don't know what analyzing you've done, but from my own experience, it might not be the rad.

On my old 440 (has a 239 ci) an air lock will occur if you don't open up the temperature gauge fitting over the rear cylinder and let anti-freeze out while you're filling the rad.  Has to be done just like bleeding brakes or diesel lines when you run out of fuel: purge all the air.    If you don't do it, the rear cylinder will run hot, you'll get a high temperature reading, and eventually your engine is buggered.

Wow! I had a custom aluminum radiator built for my Fecon and it was under $800 shipping and all.

I don't own a skidder, but have owned a lot of Cat D7's.6's and 4's, plus numerous wheel engines. I have had to have cores rodded out before. They take the tanks off and run a rod down the tubes. I good radiator shop can do it.  KodiacMac said he had the same problem. I would check that out first. Ed

Might not be the radiator. My 440B was running hot, and I was pulling out my hair trying to find the problem. I put a new thermostat, ran it without one, put another in, took radiator out had it pressure tested and boiled out, I straightened all the fins by hand on it. Put a fan shroud on, etc.... Turned out I had an extremely small head gasket leak and it would only leak when under load especially when it was warmer out.

Yes, I agree with KLogger. May be a head gasket if the water pump and thermostat check out. My experience is that a head gasket leak can give erratic signals on the temp gauge.
