Hi strunk. I am about a hour northeast of you and my mill and I are in hibernation for the winter plus you most likely know more then I do about milling as I just have 12 logs under my belt so I wouldn't be to much help. It is much easier to find winemakers then mill operators in the finger lakes area. Good luck finding someone and beware that 1/15 new gun laws take effect in NY that outlaw possession  any magazine that can hold over 10 rounds.

Thanks for that tip, it surprises me how close the lay of the land resembles home here, if there were a couple more mountains it would be the same.

MAI

Hey Strunk,

I just read your thread.  I'm an hour south of you in Horseheads, just south of Watkins Glen at the other end of the Seneca Lake.  I can't help much with milling, just insuring one.  You must be working at Hobart, nice school and beautiful view of the lake.  I spent a lot of time in Geneva where I owned multiple income properties.  Just sold the last one in Dec. 2013.   Have you done any touring of the Finger Lake wineries or micro breweries?  Even if you don't partake, they are really interesting, you meet some great people and the views are great!
Enjoy,
DJ

Hi Strunk57,
I'm in Candor, NY, about 15 miles from Ithaca, off Rt. 96. I'm still milling when it's above 32 deg. I put a 30" white pine on the mill last weekend & have several large black walnut trees to slab into 3" or 4" thick.
PM me if you want to stop by. I work at my regular job during the week.
Jim
Have a great day

York, there are prob 40 different rooms being built with different ecosystems, I would say there will be many different research products, the USDA is also involved.
