Went to a C.B. dealer in VT, He advised me that There is a new fire brick / casting that can be installed in the reaction chamber that allows you to remove the rods and the cement castings on the bottom of the fire box and discard them. I bought the new casting and my neighbor has already installed his and feels it burns better with less creosote and clinker buildup. Any thoughts on this or experience would be nice to hear.

This is the first time I've heard of this. How much are they charging for the new casting and is it easy to install?

$ 49.00 for the casting. would be easier to install when the firebox is empty and cool, I changed the fusion combustor a couple years ago and was fairly easy to do.

Pictures and details would be nice.  I replaced the secondary combustion chamber with the retrofit under warranty but it sounds like this is a new and better design.
