My 455 runs fine until its gets about half low on gas and then it starts to run lean and wont idle for more then a few seconds and gets real hard to start. Then when i feel it back up it runs fine until its about half out of gas :-[. Its not a auto tuned saw either have had it for about 5 years

I'm no expect, others will have better ideas. BUT what happens if you just take the gas cap off, don't fill it up and than try to restart it?

Sounds like there could be a hole or crack in your fuel line. One the tank gets below it it starves of fuel and leans out/won't run.

I going to check that in the morning. If not what else should i be looking into.

Could also have dropped the fuel filter from the line.

If so, or the line's cracked, you might well plan on a carb rebuild, to clean out the poo sucked in from the tank.

A good reason to flush out the fuel tank now and them.

Try theCFarm's idea first, what he was suggesting was that there could be a blocked fuel tank vent causing vapor lock. If opening the tank then immediately closing it solves the issue then the vent is the culprit. Next would be checking the fuel line.

Husky had a bad run of tank vents on the 455 a year or so ago, if so the saw will run normal for a while each time you crack open the fuel cap, like everyone said. If that doesn't work the fuel line is likely cracked, or you have a bad filter. BTW how much time do you have on the saw? the bad vent's normally didn't work right out of the box.
