thanks for the size info .
i was looking at a larger saw for milling some softwood (8"to20")
both these saws seem to be in clean and deceant condition with sthil bars .
the prices are in the 250 to 300 range.
have i missed anything on the sthil site re older saw info?
thanks

Mike's site will likely be back up in a day or two. Sometimes it goes down and needs a kick, but Mike can't kick it on a holiday weekend. It's been down before and will be down again, but Mike's site is an excellent source of info.

I have milled 12-15"softwood with a 62cc saw and it works but I wouldn't advise it.
It's ok for a few sticks but the saw is really working hard.

It's possible the 038 is a 72cc saw; there were alternate iterations.

Sure is aggravating about Acres' site, but it's worth it when up.

Kevin

The 72cc is the AVMERQZ I believe.
There are a few versions AV, AVE, AVEFB, FB which are the 61cc jobs.
