I live in Athens, GA and am seeking out folks with slabbing mills and/or interests nearby. Also looking for seasoned (and preferably kiln-dried) slab inventories. A little help here?

Thanks, Post!
I'm not looking for any kind of slabs in particular. Just starting to make note of where I can find them... I've made some table tops lately using a surface planing jig I put together, and I'm realizing that finding sources of slabs appropriate for furniture making can be tricky. If someone commissions me to build them a 42"x100"x3" walnut dining room table, I need to know of several sources from which to find that stock. And eventually I'd like to build up an inventory of slabs that folks can choose from.
I'm also starting to network with tree services around and would like to find a (relatively) local mill to send large trees to for slabbing. Any info would be great! I'm looking at purchasing a Lucas slabber, but I'm a ways off from that I think. If anyone knows how I can locate local-ish Lucas mill owners and operaters (or any mills with large slabbing capabilities), that would be valuable info. Thanks!

Andrew

Thanks for the message, Seaman. I'll be in touch soon.

Welcome to the forum Heartwoodburl (Andrew)! I generally don't keep inventory, but would be happy to slab, surface, or saw for you. I can currently slab up to 66" wide and have the planner blade for my Lucas. Not opposed to going wider if the $$$$ are there.

Kyle Edwards in Iron Station, NC has a slabber and a lot of KD slabs.

Brandon Berdoll outside of Austin, TX has a phenominal slabber and building-sized planer, and a good inventory as well.

PM me if you'd like Kyle or Brandon's contact info.
