Welcome to the Forestry Forum.

I'm curious about the "rectangular" plot  ??

Seems circular would be good, or is it such that in a plantation one takes one, two, or three rows and then just calculates the length to get the 1/40th acre?

Or one row if 10' spacing then go 109' along a row?

Are rectangular plots normal way of cruising?

Why rectangular? Why 1/40 acre?

length * width = (1/40) * 43560 (sq ft. per acre)
length * width = 1089 sq ft
for whole feet in both length and width:

1 * 1089 = 1089
3 * 363 = 1089
9 * 121 = 1089
11 * 99 = 1089
33 * 33 = 1089

Begs a question. Not being judgmental here. How experienced are you at cruising? That's pretty simple math for anyone experienced at cruising. Is this an exercise in college maybe?

I agree Swamp, but I got to thinking about this and maybe he/she is talking a rectangular "plot" of land, and then questioning the 1/40 acre placement of sample.  Still rather easy to do for a crusier - and maybe the question is as obvious as stated too?  ;)

As an experienced cruiser, I say ban all rectangular plots! :snowball:
