After the barn raising, a friend picked up some of the scrap wood and pegs laying on the ground after they were cut off to install the siding.  He took them home and made these primitive hat racks.  Thought they were great!

I like those waay better then a store bought metal hook.  8)  I made one last week for hunting coats at deer camp from a walnut slab and white pine pegs. No pictures but, not as nice as yours.  smiley_thumbsup
