Hi folks

Can anyone tell me if a chain from a stihl 024 will fit a stihl ms230

Many thanks

It depends on which pitch and gauge the chain from the 024 is.  my 024 has .325 chain on it.  it can also run 3/8th 050 gauge with a bar and sprocket swap. just depends how it was set up.  Don't know what came on the ms230 but I would bet it is .325.  take the chain and run it in the sprocket and check for binding.  If it is smooth as butter and it fits in the bar ok then run it.

MS230 is standard with 3/8LP in my region.
An 024 would be .325

Depends on the bar too! Our MS250 saws (similar to MS230) ran .325 pitch/.063 gauge/62 drive link chain loops on 16 inch bars.

Our MS260 saws (similar to MS024) ran .325/.063/67 drive links on 16 inch bars.

Different bar mounts.

Chain will fit if you get someone to spin it to the right length.
