Got a real hands on tutorial from my chainsaw guru today...showed me some scored cylinder walls and so forth...what happens when it occurs and just tons of neat stuff, that of course I had no point of reference for! :-\

The great thing...he took his valuable shop time and spent quality time with a guy who's yet to purchase anything from him!
That grades out pretty high in my book! 8)
He told me if I'd buy an occasional burger and fries/country ham...I can hang out and watch him do what he does with lessons included!!! smiley_blush
Anyhow...he agreed to rebuild my little Husky 242xp for pennies on the dollar if I find and buy the  CYLINDER PISTON ASSEMBLY kit.

Here is what I found...just wanted some feedback on your thoughts about the quality and so forth.

Thanks,

Reg,

Of the three choices, I'd stick with the Tecomec kit from weedeaterman, he will stand behind it 100% if you have any failures with it.

Thanks...besides this kit what might be some other items I need to be "possibly" looking around for?

Link #1......NO
Link #3......Better be OEM for that price and I didn't read where it was?
Link #2......Absolutely......Randy and Henry stand behind any P&C kit they sell. Tecomec is a good kit.

Any rubber items that are associated with the fuel delivery system.
Possibly crank seals?

AdKStihl...man I appreciate that...every little bit of council is helping me get better!

Are you positive it needs a new cylinder as well?
My girlfriends grandfather straight gassed a 242xp this summer, and I rebuilt it for him. Was able to clean up the scoring on the cylinder, and avoided having to buy the cylinder, only piston. did fuel lines, rebuilt carb, etc. saved a good chunk of change.
