ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. —Two men who were killed in separate incidents in the same general area within an hour of each other while logging have been identified.

According to Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore, Robert Morgan, 35, of Six Mile, was working cutting down trees in a wooded area off of Broadway School Road when he was killed.

Morgan was using a chainsaw to cut down trees between 8:30 and 10 a.m. when a tree fell, and bounced up and struck him in the chest, killing him, said Shore.

According to Shore, Morgan's boss had taken a load of timber to Pickens and when he returned he found Morgan about a mile off of Broadway School Road around 1:30 p.m.

Morgan worked for Southern Chopper Logging Co. in Easley, said Shore.

According to Shore, Morgan's death has been ruled an accident

The second death happened a short distance from Morgan's death.

According to Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown, Sandriss Gibert, Jr., 45, of Starr, was cutting one tree which fell into a second tree and bounced back, hitting him in the stomach.

Gibert worked for his uncle's logging company Gibert Logging Co., said McCown.

According to McCown, Gibert's uncle returned to the woods where they were clearing he did not hear the chainsaw and went looking for his nephew.

The uncle found Gibert on the ground. They talked but by the time EMS crews arrived Gibert had died at the scene, said McCown.

Sucks to hear this kind of news... a few logging friends died in the past one was a dump truck driver double bed that slides into one another he stuck his head inside and his father found him later on.  Finally built a park for the guy. Mistakes happen but it is hard when you do not learn from the first one.
