Timber for patio cover

I'm planning to build a patio cover.  This will be a "shed style" roof, attached to the house using a 4x6 ledger.  I'll use a 6x8 14' timber for the main beam, and 8 4x6s for the rafters.  I lot of people around here use green Ponderosa Pine for this kind of construction, with mixed results.  Sometimes the warping and twisting is just obscene.   So, I'd like to use something better to reduce the amount of warpage, and I am looking for guidance.  I've looked for DF #1&Btr KD FOHC but not much success yet. 

I have found one place in OR that would ship me the 6x8 14' DFD #1&Btr KD FOHC for $475. 

I'm in NM.  Got any ideas?

Well First - Welcome to the forum!! 

In the top right hand corner is a "find-a-database" button.  You can use this to find a sawyer close to you that may be able to provide the timbers you are needing.  Good luck with your project.

Get some beams cut with boxed hearts and lay them out to begin to dry.
If they are going to warp, you will see that fairly soon, especially in NM.
You can then reject them before placing in your patio cover.
IMO, better than having a DF delivered and then learn that it too may not be what you want.
