That one just got our attention. Near Wellington again, so a fair way off from us, but nearly a minute of shaking here  :o

Early reports put it at 6.7 magnitude.

Ian, earthquakes are all too common there (for me). Any damage?

Probably will be some localised damage around where it hit. This one was shallow and on land, instead of out to sea. But away from any large towns. Suspect power and net is down in the immediate area so details there are vague.

There was a 5.7 aftershock a few minutes after, but hardly felt that here.

Just checked the message boards. Power out in parts of Wellington and all the trains are shut down. No reports of serious damage in Wellington, but they will be doing inspections of buildings again to check for damage.

10 quakes over Mag 4 in the last 1/2 hour. Just barely felt most of them, but it a bit nerve racking.

Ohh, make that 11, another while I was typing. Not strong but definitely a quake  :-\

5.2 mag in a totally different place, but much closer to home. Whole country seems to be moving today.

I guess that many smaller ones means that the shift is taking place continually but gradually?  That has to be better that one big one.
