The Michigan Department of Natural Resources ­Forest Resources Division is recruiting applicants for 3 permanent Forest Fire Officers.   These positions perform a variety of forestry activities designed to prevent, detect and suppress forest fires.  Duties will also may include forest recreation, pest management and land management activities.  See the position description for a complete list of duties and special requirements for these positions.
These are the current projected locations of employment.  Please indicate your preference on the location that you would accept employment on your cover letter.
Northern Lower Peninsula­Atlanta, Indian River and Brighton
Job Qualifications­Education--Possession of a high school diploma or a GED Certificate. 
Experience­Work experience fighting fires as a member of an organized fire department (state, county, township, municipal, federal or military) with completion of the Michigan Fire Fighters Training Council’s Level 1 A and B Basic Training Course or equivalent military experience  OR  two seasonal years of experience as a DNR key person OR two years of college with 15 semester (23 term) credit hours in natural resources technology, fire technology, forest technology or wildlife technology may be substituted for the work experience requirement OR possession of Incident Commander Type 4 (ICT 4) certification may be substituted for the experience requirements.
·  Must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with an A designation and an N endorsement with air brake certification within 3 months of hire if you don’t possess one.
·   You must pass a physical exam and physical fitness test prior to hire.
