Here's one of the best bread pudding recipes I have run into. I ate this at Mary Mahoney's French Resturant in Biloxi, Mississippi and they had the recipe printed out for our enjoyment. I make this in my Dutch oven and it's a show-stopper.

MARY MAHONEY'S FRENCH BREAD PUDDING-Biloxi,Mississippi

10 oz. French bread
6 eggs
½ teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
¼ cup sugar
2 cups whole milk
½ cup half & half cream
2 teaspoons real vanilla extract
1 ½ cups golden seedless raisins
2 sticks butter-melted
In a bowl combine eggs, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix well. Add to this mixture sugar, milk, cream and vanilla extract. Mix well. Cut up bread into bite size pieces in baking dish. Add raisins and melted butter to bread. Pour milk mixture over bread. Bake at 350 about 30 minutes or until golden brown.

Rum Sauce
2 ½ cups scaled milk
¾ cups sugar
6 tablespoons flour
4 eggs beaten well
1 stick butter
dash of cinnamon
dash of nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon rum flavor
1 oz light or dark rum

In a sauce pan melt butter, add flour. Mix well until no lumps. Add scalded milk and sugar. Cook over low heat until thickened. Beat in eggs and remove from heat. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and rum. Serve over bread pudding with a dollop of fresh whipped cream.
