Looks good , winch and grapple.    I have been asking around to all the loggers , what size winch cable do you use?   Whats the length ?   And swage or regular  cable?     Also , do u use choker chains or cable? Thanks, doug

Nice skidder.  Seems like there are more 540B's around here than any other skidder.  Gotta be a reason for that.

I've always used 100' swage cable and chain chokers .

I finally got to where I could buy an '86 540D brand new out of the box...I later tossed the wife, & kept the 540 ;D

We have owned a 1979 540B cable skidder for over 20 years now, I've owned several other skidders along with the 540 but the 540 just keeps going & going. Also have a 1984 240A Timberjack that I really like.
I grew up around logging but chose to be a heavy equipment mechanic for several years. Later in life my interest changed so my cousin and myself went into logging on our own in 1988.
