Had a guy call me today about cutting what he was calling a red cypress.  I've never seen a red cypress.  Anyone familiar with this tress?  It's located just north of Atlanta.

The old growth bald cypress with a lot of heartwood was called "Tidewater Red", as the heartwood had a red tint.  However, all that has been cut out.  Most of the cypress today is all sapwood and does not have the rot resistance of the old tidewater red.

North of Atlanta? Not much cypress that way. Reckon he meant red cedar?
