Timber Framers North Central Regional Meeting
Sponsored by the Timber Framers Guild & North House Folk School
Grand Marais, Minnesota, March 1-3, 2013

The meeting is open to anyone with an interest in timber framing

Highlights:
•Friday-evening open house and arctic film screening.
•Mini-presentations (single track) Saturday all day and Sunday morning.
•Saturday lunch. Saturday evening pizza feed. Sunday morning brunch at historic Lutsen Resort.
•Saturday night timbered project slide show—bring ten digital slides to share.

Grand Marais, in northeast Minn., is on the northwest shore of Lake Superior. The campus of North House Folk School (our  host) includes five timbered classroom buildings, including two 1930s CCC warehouses. The meeting is open to anyone with an interest in timber framing.

A modest registration fee ($45 early bird by January 18, $50 regular) covers participation in all Friday–Sunday activities (including meals).

So far, sessions will include:
•Peter Henrikson on Gryndbygg-style timber framing and Norway.
•Tom Westbrook, UMN professor, on the limits of wood.
•Sunday brunch and tour at the Historic Lutsen Resort.
•Joe Miller on snow loads and engineering.
•Howard Hedstrom, Hedstrom Lumber, on the global wood products market.

Family is welcome. There is lots to do here—cross-country and downhill skiing, ice fishing, dogsledding, snowshoeing, art galleries, driving tours, shops, and restaurants. Family members can join the Saturday dinner and Sunday brunch for $25 apiece.

There are over 30 places to stay within five miles of campus, prices ranging from $30 to $150 per night. When you register, we'll mail you a lodging options sheet.
