Came out of my Dad's kitchen stuff. Something to do with making dough maybe?

Karen says it is a pastry cutter. It is used to to cut butter into pastry mix.

We have one like it,  antique it is,  used for cutting shorting or butter into dry mixes of flour,  it's a keeper!
only have a few chain saws I'm not suppose to use, but will at times, one dog Dolly, pretty good dog, just not sure what for yet,  working on getting the gardening back in order, and kinda thinking on maybe a small bbq bizz,  thinking about it,

Raider Bill

It swivels on the handle sort of hard to use like that.

It should not swivel on the handle, but ladies that baked "from scratch" regularly used that kitchen utensil.

Guess this one is wore out as it spins pretty freely.

Girlfriend is making scratch apple pies. Rolling out the dough now!

I just looked at ours, it will move with some force, if possible, and needs to be done, try and tighten the little square nut on the shaft.  If that won't work,  and it is a problem, you might put a small screw to one sid of the threaded rod, that still bites into the handle,  Must have been some mighty fine pies coming off that one!   :christmas:

Drive a 16d nail in the handle with the wires that should make  things more solid.

Just looked a little closer ,tighten the nut

Sorry Emily, but don't think it is a whisk. They are used for whipping egg whites, etc.
Google whisk and see.

Sawguy has it closest, IMO. Used one often in Mom's kitchen following her instructions. slices and dices butter, lard, shortening or other semi-solid ingrediants to mix with sugar, flour, and other dry things.
Google "wire food cutter mixing lard" and go to "Images". Scroll down and there is one shown. Leave the name of it up in the air tho.

that's because it's colder up there, SD.  it makes the butter harder!

Pies look good.  All I have left is one slice of squash pie.  :snowfight1:

Yep the Little Lady [ :D] likes to cook. She also made pineapple upside cake, brown sugar short bread, potato chip cookies, and chocolate dipped strawberry's and pretzels.

Today is Pecan pie with Dannys nuts. :D

This was last night while sitting outside around a fire. Fresh apple pie, vanilla ice cream, sharp chedder cheese and coffee out of a forestry forum cup.  DELISH!!

I would have to agree with ya Chuck.  It's more of a whisk than a cutter.
