I have a chance to purchase some red and white oak logs from a site near home. 16 - 30 DBH, skidded to a landing, and loaded on the trailer. I know condition is everything. are they straight, clear etc. etc. I'll make that determination when I see them, but I could use some current pricing info. I don't want to lowball the guy, but I don't want to overpay either. Just looking for a fair value at this point. Any help woul be appreciated.

There are also some maple (not sure what type), and some tulip poplar

In Eastern Ohio which is where I am .

White Oak     200- 900 per  1000bf
Red  Oak        200- 800 per 1000

Poplar   150 -500 per 1000

These prices are for delivered  logs to  the Mill .

The highest price of each  type are clear and straight  above 17 inch diameter .

Thank you Bill. I'm in eastern PA, so you're not that far away. The pricing should be similar here I would assume. I'll be hauling the logs myself, so I can assume that will lower the price a bit. Those fuel surcharges, and delivery, can add to the price.

Yes I would think around 70 per 1000 deduction for trucking

;D Now cutter, it's Food for the bugs so your not far off there.  We're paying $45 per ton for oak.  But there is an abundance of it right now because of the drought this last summer.

Last week I averaged .79 cents this week it was .63 cents the mill has 2 1/2 million board feet on there yard all white oak. Red I sold butt logs with 637 feet in them for .50 and the second log was .36 I sometime feel like it's a losing battle.
