I am considering the purchase of a used chainsaw mill setup and was looking for some feedback. The mill is an Alaskan Mark III, in a 36" length. The saw is a Stihl 084 with a 36" bar and a GrandBerg ripping chain. The mill is only a year old and I am not sure how old the saw is. (Anybody know when they stopped making the 084 model?) The chainsaw looks to be in good shape although I may need to get a new bar as the grooved edge looks a little flattened in a couple spots. Looking for any feedback on the mill and/or chainsaw - good or bad.

I am not looking to do a lot of cutting. It would be used mostly for slabbing logs, stumps, crotches etc., to make turning blanks for my bowl lathe.

Thanks
