I was trying to record the serial numbers from my saws in case they were stolen and I have found numbers all over the saws.  I decided the numbers may be part numbers.

Where can I find the serial numbers on my saws?
(017, MS250 and MS290)
Thanks,
mtnman

As shown, inboard of the chain cover on the top, near the muffler. It may be covered in grime and carbon buildup but it is there.

OK, I think I can find it now that I know where to look.
Thanks!

I cannot find the serial number on my MS250?
I found the other 2 saws right where you said.
Looks like a sticker on the MS250 which I cannot read?
Where else can I look?

I finally found it!
It is on the rope side of the engine by the muffler.
It is under the handle that comes up from the rope side.
I had to spray some brake cleaner on it and wipe it and it showed up.
And yes it is like the other two saws in "Dot Matrix".
I am glad to get that done, we have a theif on the mountain that has already broke into a neighbors place and stole their chainsaw, blower and weedeater.
We are going out of town for a few days and when we get back I am going to hide the vehicles inside the garage and catch me a crook!
Thanks for your help.

Now the only problem is trying to read the damned thing!!! Is that a 5 or a 6? What, is that a 2 or a 3? UGH!

Welcome to the Forestry Forum.

Glad you found info needed, but FYI.. the official and only swear word here is "DanG"..  just so you know. ;)

You're welcome to change it, but Denmark will need to oblige as well.
