I am pondering the idea of putting a Modine heater in my basement to to keep the floors warmer in the house. The basement is roughly 40'x 40'. Any ideas on what size heater will do the job?

Might work, but have no clue to what amount of heat you want or need.
Seems that will be up to your judgement. Or give a lot more details to work with. ;)

If it's a poured concrete wall 45 to 50,000 btu unit will make it warm.  If it's a stone foundation wall 100,000 btu's will not keep it warm. Well it might but its a waste of energy ;D

i have 2 in my garage. 40x40x14 you could have it 75 in there if you wanted. one is a modine about 2'x2' the other is a trane its round with the fan in the middle so it blows down. it works ok not as good as the modine. anyone know what a new modine costs? called about a used one he wanted $400 for it. seems high
