I was in a woods this morning where the understory is all paw paws. Very dry here this year and there loaded with fruit I can never remember seeing so much fruit. They seem to grow in the moist areas of the woods but maybe on regular or wet year they don't do so well but with the dry summer this year maybe everything came togather for them but for sure theres a bumper crop.

Did you eat any?

I see lots of paw paw trees in our woods, yet I've only seen 2 fruits in my entire life. And never eaten any.

Our Paw Paw fruit crop was minimal this year for some reason.  Not very many muscadines either.  I guess that very dry May and June did them in.   :-\

We have a patch of pawpaws on our farm.   I've never seen a ripe one. Animals get them first.

I have seen Paw Paw pulled over by bears to get to the fruit.
The season is short but everynow and then I will be on the tree farm at the right time and get to eat a couple of paw paws, very good fruit but messy.
