Needs a little clean up work.
$3.00 at the junk store.
Just what I needed for timber framing.
H. Disston & Sons hand saw... 24" x 6 tpi.  Teeth appear to be properly set.
Using the website: http://www.disstonianinstitute.com/
I surmised the following:
1896-1917 vintage estimated by the medallion on the handle.
Appears to be a D-8 blade w/ D-30 handle?
Thoughts or comments?

My Uncle past away last year and left me his old TOOLS. I got 4 hand saws. I just hung them up in my man cave and never looked at them.
Now ya got me wondering what they are.

Good post JP.

DanG Brother BEEN.....thanks for the heads up.  :D :D :D :D Maybe I should go back and re-read the thread on PROOF READING in the general section. I corrected my mistake. Duhhhh! I can imagine what you we're thinking.  :D :D :D :D

I think you are correct that it is a D-8 blade with a D-30 handle. The blade looks to have the skew back which is specific to the D-8. The D-30 had a straight back.

I think all the D-8 handles had 5 brass screws (one had the medallion)

Whatever style, it's a Disston and for only $3, you got a deal.

Glad y'all enjoyed the post & thanks for the feedback.

One note, that may have been observed: One of the "horns" is missing from the handle. But that's of no consequence to me.

Thoughts on a safe solvent to to use w/ my 00 / 000 steel wool to clean it up with?

I've got PB Blaster, WD-40 & Shooters Choice in the cabinet.
