I had 1 more RO measuring 36" and 23" in dia (very oblong) and 8.5' long which I QSed via the inside/out method. First I sawed the taper off, then sawed it in half, strapped the 2 halves together and rotated 90°. See pic. Note the 2 pinch dogs to hold the halves together when the straps are removed.

Closeup of pinch dogs.

Starting the 2nd cut.

Exiting the 2nd cut. Dogs are working nicely.

Exposing the 4 quarters. Intense fleck or ray pattern.

I noticed while sawing the sawdust was in the form of strings rather than fine dust. I presume that was due to so much flecks? See pic below:

Has anyone seen sawdust like this before from their mill?

Tomorrow I will saw the quarters 1.125" thick and add them to the drying rack with the others.

Yes, that is akin to sawing "along" the grain, but in your case was along the rays.
