My Stihl 009 fuel tank vent line broke, I notice that up near the tank vent in the line is a small screw/coil spring type thing, The line broke in two spots one in the middle near carb and also down in the hole behind the carb, I took it to my dealer and he said its a pain to run the line back to were it goes from the factory and he stuck a new hose on the tank vent with what appears to be a white plastic vent on the other end of the hose. Is this set up ok? I notice that fuel does go into the line but it stops when it gets to the white vent he put on, a tiny bit may seep out. Thanks

Should be OK IMO.  It's not really that hard to run the line back where it goes he just had an easier/quicker fix.  The set screw in the line acts like a vent sucking air by the threads.  It works.  The dead end of the original line ends up behind a little cover with a piece of foam filter material zip tied to the line.  Stihl also used this type vent on the 021-025 series.

Ill keep a eye on it, It seems like the little white vent seeps a little but nothing bad, What do I do about the screw in the original line?

I was in a rush when I was at the dealer, and he didn't charge me for this fix.

Ok I pulled it apart today myself, I don't need to remove carb to get the line in the hole, I ordered the Line since it came with the screw or what ever it is already in the line figured it would be easier that way. Ill have it monday, this way that it was set up was dripping a bit of fuel, Maybe because it doesn't have that screw in it.

Sounds like a lazy dealer IMO but atleast he didn't charge you for it.

I was late for a birthday dinner, he was trying to help me out, he thought he had to pull the carb out.

If the new line doesn't have the screw thing in there, can i cut it out of the old one and stuff it in the new one?

Yes, you can re-use the screw as long as the line is the same I.D. as the old one. The screw just creates a calibrated leak. Keeps crud out but lets air in as required.
