Since there are a few portable sawyers that use an operator's seat, I decided to share this.

My new truck is about 8" taller, so I needed a step for easier access to the camper when it is being used.  The camper is used only occasionally, but the sawmill is used regularly.   Many times the sawmill is set up on uneven ground with outriggers on the hitch end higher.  This makes the operator's seat higher, so I have to cut some cookies or something to step on.  I thought about my new camper step, and it worked perfectly.  16"X24"X 8" high with folding & locking legs.

It is called a "Safety Step" and is found where camper supplies are sold.

It looks sturdy. Great add on.

What's that behind the step? Orange peelings?  :D I know......it's fenders.  :)
The older I get I wish my body could Re-Gen.

That's a pretty good step up and into the operators seat Lynn.

The camper step will be appreciated.

I've been thinking about getting my operators seat down off the shelf and trying it out on a sawjob!  Maybe......

It raises the operator up to where you can really see what is happening.  Maybe I am spoiled or just used to it because it has always been there, but I do not saw without it.  I did have to remove it today to saw some 20's but it quickly went back on.

Sometimes with very large logs or when the wind is blowing wrong, I'll sit up on the seat back.

That wrinkled up fender is the one that came off during travel and the sawmill ran over it.  I hammered it out as best I could and shot a little paint on it.  It looks pitiful but it still works.

David, we can always rely on you for comic relief. When you are too old to saw I think standup comedy is your calling.  ;D

And then you will need an operator's seat and a new step.   :)
