My dad and I have a small A-frame cabin on a lake in the woods of Ontario, surrounded by 100' jack pine and 80' spruce. My dad wants to build a tool shed to get the saws, gas powered logging winch, and tools out of the cabin. I'm worried that it will look terrible. So help me out -- if you have ideas or pictures of nice small buildings (this will likely be only 6'x8' or so), I would love to see them.

We also have a large stack of 22' lengths of de-barked, seasoned jack pine lengths available for building (don't have to use them, of course).

Best thing you can do is make a shed miniature form patterned after the cabin. As far as for looks, I mean. Don't make the door too small, though. Think of a building in terms of, "cubic feet."

I built my dog's house as a scaled down matching version of my garage; her doghouse--my doghouse.
Jed: Jethro, how's come they ain't no ice in Kali Forni-a?

Jethro: Don't look at me Uncle Jed. I didn't take it.

If the A-frame roof slope is too steep for a shed, scale that back by ¼ or ½. For example, if your A-frame slope is 24' rise in 12' run, go 18-12, 12-12 or 6-12.
