I picked up that tracked Paylogger Skidder. This thing is awesome! From what the mechanic told his boss about the machine while researching it was that was one of eight ever made. Hyrostatic drive, 600hrs showing on the meter on the 353, High-Low range, Blade is in the rear like a cradle and the whole seat and operators controls swivel backwards, rebuilt winch and the hood lowers hydraulicly. The owner believes that the hours are actual because it was just a little less than that when he got it. He has a big land clearing business and didn't have a  use for it. Needs just a little work due to sitting for so long. I drove down a week ago and started it and it purred like a kitten (till I gave it some throttle ;D). Started it this time and had a little problem starting it and out of the exhaust box comes a mouse summer saulting out of it. I laughed so hard I almost fell off the machine. Here are some pics. Can't wait to get it to 100%.

What does it weigh ???

That is very nice! Does it steer by articulating and hydrostatic (different inside and outside track speeds)?

Believe it or not the scales said 30,560 for F350 dually 4 door, 20ft flatbed trailer and the skidder. My friend says his truck and trailer weigh 14K so that means the skidder is 16K. I have a hard time believing that. As far as steering it articulates and it seems like one track slows downs and the other speeds up. I haven't ran it enough to be a 100% certain, I am waiting until I change all the fluids and I want to check all the bearings and seals in the boggies. The tracks are a little ripe and I need to replace the rubber strapping in them. Then good to go. Anyone know of anyone getting rid of an old grinder/chipper feed belt??? Where is a good place to get International Yellow Paint??

Man I couldn't sleep last night! Dang full time job getting in the way. ;D ::)

I was hoping you bought that machine.  It now has a good home.  Will you be using it in Vt. or Me.?   Forestry Expo in Essex Junction  May 11 and 12 maybe you can get some leads on parts there. I plan on going  on Friday.

I will be using it in Vermont. I moved out of Maine a little while ago. I forgot to update my location. I am definantly going to the Expo on the 11th. Might see you there. I will be bringing my 4 yr old son. He loves all the big equipment. He and I are on the same level when it comes to that.

Thanks snowstorm I will give them a ring.

If i was ever in your neck of the woods, i would like to see that contraption in person! My father had a international lag skidder that i ran in grammer school. Nice old rig! He bought it new and ran it 20 years or so and got his bmoney back when he sold it!

The lag skidder was based on a bulldozer chassis.

I see about the lag skidder. This one has rubber belting with the grousers bolted on with 4 bolts to the rubber belting. The grousers actually have a small round section sticking out from each side which is engaged by the sprocket and moved which ever direction. It is a modified s-7 chasis. I have to work at 4pm  on the 11th, but I will be at the expo when the doors open.

Snowstorm/Woodhauler maybe we can get together sometime that day. The machine is located in Franklin Vt which is about 45-50 min north.

Is that Leach's gravel pit in the background? We cut pine near you last winter over near the reservoir in Berkshire.

Nice machine- should be lots of work for it. Gearmatic winch?

No that isn't Leaches, it is a mulch yard in NY where the machine was sitting. It is a Gearmatic. You did a job in Berkshire near the reservoir? Off of Reservoir road?

madmari

Yup, finally getting the pulp chipped this week. Chip mill went to quotas before the frost went out, then the roads were posted, then the rain....now chips dropped significantly. Murphy rules!!!
Do you have worked lined up for that rig? I get calls for work where that machine would shine-

No work yet, as I want to make sure it is 100%. I am looking though. I would love to get calls like that.

If i was up on my feet, it would have been setting in my yard. I would have bought it before posted a pic on here.

I'm glad you jumped on an bought it bkellyvtme. That machine will only go up in value. It looked bigger in the first pic, its really a nice looking machine.

I logged in many Cedar, Spruce an Tamarack swamps, that would have been the ticket. Some of the big swamps here won't freeze, even at -50, to much heat from underneath. I went down with the C5, took use 2 days to get it out. There a lot of places i couldn't use my S8 , it was to heavy.
Third generation logger, owner operator, 30 yrs felling experience with pole skidder. I got my neck broke back in 89, left me a quad. The wife kept the job going up to 96.

It has been one of the highlights of my life to be able to get this machine. I am very excited about getting this machine 100%  and seeing what it will do. Since I don't rely on logging as a living, I am going to take it easy on this machine and treat it like family. I am currently trying to get some rubber belting to replace the track belting. Got some good leads and come to find out I might be able to get some used conveyor belt from the quarry in town. It is the same stuff as what is on the tracks and not beat up. Then a little sand blasting, paint to get it looking pretty, fluids and new boggie bearings and the hopefully we will be 100%.

wow! sweet machine kelly! im working on a swampy hardwood job up here right now, and thatd work awful good! 8)

Wish I was close enough to give you a hand. I have been trying to get it 100%. I have been replacing all the bearings and seals. The hubs had these caps on them where the hub was machined down and threaded. The caps were screwed on like capping off the end of a pipe. I was tapping out a race and split the end of the hub. Well, $254 for a new hub. That hurts. I hope the other 6 will not crack. I hoping to get some working shots sometime in the near future. I got three jobs already without going to look for it. I have a list of people who want to buy it too. I think they are going  to be waiting a long time. ;)
