I have last years black walnuts that I'd like to crack/shell but the cost of a new drill cracker is pretty steep.  I'd like to at least try one... and maybe you have one that you'd like to help pay for?  Lemme know.  Brad_bb

Point to one that is called a drill cracker. I'm not seeing it with that name either.

I don't know if they will give you a discount. They ended their sponsorship as of the last day of this month.

Jeff, what was the discount?  There's still a few days left and I'm considering it as I have probably all of 55 gallons of dried Black walnuts, maybe more, and I need to get them shelled and out of my way.

Tammy informed me that I am mistaken, the sponsorship ends the last day of April, so the discount should still be good until then.

Hulling is when you remove the outer green rind from the nuts.  I did this last fall using an antique corn sheller, which also works well to hull walnuts.  It does not shell walnuts though.  Then you let them dry for a few weeks or more.  Then you (preferably) tumble them to dislodge any debris so it doesn't get mixed with the meat when shelling.  Then you Crack/shell the nuts.  Then you sort the meat from the shells.  I just ordered a drill cracker, so we'll see how it does.
