POSTON WIDEHEAD

I demoed my LT40HDG28 for a new member, "GA MTN MAN" ( Paul ).

Thought I had it all planned. I had the perfect log to show my mill off with. An 8 foot SYP, 18 inch dib. I was doing such a great job slabbing it off and ZING!!!! There it was, the old rusty nail.
Since this was Paul's first time learning a WOODMIZER, I was kind of glad this happened. I had been telling him everything that could possibly go wrong sawing back yard logs. Well, he got to witness sawing a BIG 'OL rusty nail!

I took the chainsaw and notched the metal out...but did not have to change the blade right away. We were able to saw off the lumber caused by "chain saw surgery". Then we put on a new blade and I turned him loose.

Having never run a WOODMIZER or any other band mill, Paul caught on pretty DanG fast. Paul was a "carbon copy" of what I was like when I milled my first log.

I was laughing......Paul's got the saw dust fever.... :D :D :D.

We had a GREAT DAY sawing lumber, asking and answering questions and as I promised, I took him to our local BBQ joint and treated a new FF friend to some BBQ.  Dang.....them Georgia boys can  digin_2 musteat_1 musteat_1 musteat_1 digin_2.

My sincere thanks to Jake Mooney for sending me a "meet and greet" package for me to give to Paul for his interest in WOODMIZER. Paul was digging in his goodie bag like a kid at Christmas!  smiley_christmas

Paul drove over 3 hours to get to my place and like I said before....THE DUDE GOT DA FEVER!  8) :D 8) :D

I'm the little fat boy on the left.  :D :D :D

Here's "GA MTN MAN" running the LT40.....SOLO!

Paul actually got to sell and help load some lumber for a customer who stopped by. Paul's first time sawing and sells it 20 minutes later.....not bad!

And as I promised....all ya can eat BBQ!  8) 8) 8)

that's why you must play di drum...to blow the big guys mind!

Good job David and congrats to Paul on being properly exposed to the sawing world.  It looked to be a fun filled day.  I noticed that guys that eat Grits wear short sleeved T shirts.  Maybe some folks should wise up.   :)

Just got back and beat the storms that are rolling our way.  Thanks for a great day, David!  I learned a lot and learned that I have a lot more to learn...but it was a very good start.  You're a patient and ENTHUSIASTIC teacher. You've got some mad skills on that WM... it's hard to believe you've only had the mill for a year.

Three cheers for David!    smiley_clapping smiley_clapping smiley_clapping

I got to meet somebody from the forum, Bearden lives about 20 miles away from me and I had never met him before. I met up with him a couple of weeks ago and saw all the nice oak, cherry, pine, and birch lumber he's been milling and his mega-whack of logs he's working his way through!
