Loss of balance

  I decided to take a sport specific exercise class for golf ,2 nights a week for 12 weeks. The first night you go thru a screening to identify physical limitations. Among many that were found the biggest surprise to me was my loss of balance. I could not stand on one foot for 5 seconds never mind the 25 seconds it takes to pass the test. Surprising how weak the ankles get even if you walk all day long. After 1 month standing on one leg is not a problem until I close my eyes then I loose my balance in 8 to 10 seconds.
     We only use light weights  and we do a lot of stretching{ouch} and balance exercises with some cardio at the end of class. I have to admit I am enjoying this investment to my health. I'll find out in the spring how much it helps my golf game.   Holmes

I walk quite a bit myself and really enjoy it. This time of year it's not easy so a class like your taking sounds great.

Good on you Holmes! You know me,  I am all about exercise, and any investment in better health is a good investment indeed.  ;)    Keep up the work and you will be rewarded many times over.

reminds me of my days working for randolph county n.c..  we were ems employees.  they had 2 sets of test, one for women and one for men.  the men could not get out of the womens level of physical test, maybe why we were ever tested one time only.  you cannot walk a balance beam if you cannot see your feet.  ever watch a 385[we was weighed] try to do a push-up or a sit up.  this was hilarious!  ever watch fat out of shape people try to do a broad jump!  i told the instructor to open the door at the end of the room.  he ask can he jump that far?, no but if he goes over and starts to roll he will go thru that door!

  Well I finished my 12 week exercise program . My balance is much better, my flexibility is greatly improved and I lost 8 lbs along the way. I decided to continue this program for another 6 weeks.  Golf season starts this weekend, more than a month early,so I will soon know if this helps my game. I know it has helped my life.
