I've taken a few of the chuck shaft nuts off of a Millers Falls boring machine with the hammer and chisel method, but that leaves marks.  I finally found the correct tool.  It's hard to fit a tool in that space for that large thin nut,but I found a Low Profile 32mm oil filter socket at the auto parts store.  Around here if I need a specialty tool, I go to CarQuest.  I also see them available on line via google shopping and ebay.  This special low profile socket is made for some GM 2.2 litre engine oil filter.  It's 3/8" drive, and I use it with a 3/8 breaker bar to keep the setup as short as possible.  It works perfectly for the millers falls nut.  This nut is usually not very tight so it shouldn't take much to break it free.  The right tool for the job.

Anything someone can design, I can sure figure out how to fix!
If I say it\\\\\\\'s going to take so long, multiply that by at least 3!
