I have 20 or so 20in to 28in Ash down. The logs range from 15 to 30 ft long and most have little or no heart. I also have 3 or four small (16-18in) 30ft long but really straight ash logs that I originally planned to cut into fire wood. Plan to see what these will bring before going after the rest....over 100 more. (This is in the CNY area)

Prices for logs are really specific to your area. Try calling 2 or 3 mills near you and have them give you a bid on them. Find out what they want and are paying the most for. If you know how to buck the logs for grade you may do better than selling them for a straight through price.

Were the logs felled or did they blow down in a storm? Blowdowns will often have damage (some hidden) which can affect their value.

Firewood logs, or sawlogs?

I thought you guys didn't have any ash left in MI, after the EAB went through...

The tool handle place here in Woodstock, NB pay close to $500/mbfm for stuff over 14". They have quite a bit of inventory turning dark gray, I don't know how long it lasts outside in the elements on the ground. Around these parts, the woods is full of ash. Not a lot of log sized ash, because everyone cuts stuff before it can grow to any size. ::)

Sawlogs.  Sawbolts would be 75-80 and firewood/pulp 45  EAB is here in the Northern Lower many but not all trees are infected.  Yet  :(

I've got to get a bunch of "green" ash this fall. The girl at the warehouse said they have a small bit of it. I said, sounds good. Can't use kilned stuff for bending. ;D

How are you getting the logs out? Going to need a trucker too.

I have to say this was a productive venture and I really have to give a plug to B&B logging out of Jamesville NY and their forester Nathan.

Got three loads out before the winter set in (Have another 3 or 4 loads if weather permits)  and much of that is because of Nathan. As a farmer and holding a full time job driving trucks..having someone like these folks to work with makes it possible to manage my 100 plus acre wood lot. Thankyou Nathan and B&B!
