Pallet mill tour in Missouri

Attended a tour connected with the Mid-West Forest Industry show last Thursday. This pallet facility also processes grade logs, ties, etc. mostly oak. They reported a usage of 80-90,000 bf. per day, mostly tree length logs.

We accessed the pallet maufacturing area, then the grade log area which is all contained under roof and little to no sawdust or debris anywhere, all  waste moved out by air ducts, utilization of logs near 100%!

The pallet mills play an important part of logging harvests in the Ozarks, holding a price for below grade logs of which, of course, are a large percentage of stumpage. Outstanding tour.
