Here is a picture of a fair sized cedar cant. It was 12"x12"x16'
In this pic I have already taken a few boards off and flipped the cant. This size is nice to work with.

Trader, do ya have a problem with brown rot inside the bigger ERC???

FDH,

I actually haven't. The bigger trees do have some ingrown bark sometimes, but you can see it before and decide if it is worth the time to cut it down and drag up out of the canyon.
Like I said earlier, the bigguns are at the bottom and have been protected from the wind  by the canyon walls and other trees. I like the ones that you can't reach the first branch with a chainsaw while it is still standing.

Boy you sure do grow nice ERC down your way Haytrader. Uh next time your up my way could you bring some of those logs on top of the hay. ;D

Speaking of hay the guy I buy hay from brought out some 3rd cutting alfalfa in trade for storing his car in my shed. Stuff was so nice I almost made a salad out of it. Patty's fat horse sure likes it. He was saying how good hay prices are this year. He was interested in how you guys in Kansas were doing, not price wise but general markets.

Haytrader

Markets?

Grains.........never enough
Hay.............weak due to no bad weather
Cattle..........mad........but coming back

Hey Harold, I go on road trips around here to and can find some mighty fine walnut, oak, cherry, hickory.  My question is  "How do you get past the guys with the shotguns?"

" Teach", ya gotta have a "line", if you get my drift ;D ;D

These trees were approved for cutting not long ago. Gotta figure how to drop 'em without breaking 'em. ::) ::)
